Meet the 2018 Exit Planning Summit Title Partner

Written by Member Experience | Mar 30, 2018 8:05:03 PM

It is my pleasure to introduce our 2018 Exit Planning Summit Title Partner: BNY Mellon Wealth Management!

BNY Mellon Wealth Management strives to work collaboratively with advisors and owners to create strategies that expand exit options and provide holistic solutions. For the second year in a row, their experts and educators will join the Summit to collaborate, educate, provide insights, and grow with CEPAs and advisors from all regions and disciplines this September in Nashville.

At EPI, we strive to bring together leading advisors, firms, and providers who are bound together with a common goal: Changing the outcome for business owners.  Complementary to our philosophy, many BNY advisors have earned the CEPA designation and have made great strides in spreading awareness in their local markets and bringing like-minded advisors together, including the launch of chapters, completion of State of Owner Readiness research, large-scale networking, and owner education resulting in a big impact.

Focused on Collaboration

EPI believes in advisor collaboration as a core pillar of exit planning…so important that it warrants a dedicated “Power of Teams” tested module at the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) program.

Gary Rzucidlo, CEPA, Senior Wealth Director, EPI Nashville President, and 2017 Excellence in Exit Planning Award “Leader of the Year” Finalist talks about how his chapter breeds collaboration so they can all help owners transition successfully.

“If advisors don’t work collaboratively, we all lose,” says Rzucidlo, “Without collaboration the owner, who is often in the center trying to reconcile conflicting advice from multiple advisors, ultimately does nothing and opportunities are missed.  In starting the Nashville Exit Planning Chapter, my goal was to establish a forum where advisors could focus on building collaborative relationships for the betterment of our mutual clients while sharing a foundation for improved exit planning education.”

An Early Seat at the Exit Planning Table

Like many CEPAs within the wealth management discipline, BNY advisors do not charge for exit planning or provide value growth services.  That fact does not make them less of an exit planning advisor than the next advisor.  These BNY advisors harness their knowledge, experience, and strengths to empower owners and advisors alike to ask the hard questions and make proactive decisions when given an early seat at the table.

“Exit planning is the great equalizer,” shares Brett Dearing, CEPA, CM&AA, Senior Wealth Director in New York, “It is a resource I utilize combined with my experience to empower the business owner during one of the most difficult/important scenarios (the sale of their business). Exit planning offers advisors the knowledge and process to directly impact the negotiation in the benefit of the owner. As Certified Exit Planning Advisors, we can build a deal team to work with the owner to increase the Enterprise Value of the business before the sale.”

Thank you BNY Mellon Wealth Management for your support of the exit planning community and welcome back to the 2018 Exit Planning Summit!

About Exit Planning Institute:

The Exit Planning Institute (EPI) is an education company that provides exit planning education to advisors and middle market business owners.  We view exit planning as a strategy, not an event.

EPI leads the professional services profession with the best industry content, ongoing support, and owner education platform, all of which align with our mission: Change the outcome.

Only 2 out of every 10 businesses that come to market actually sell.  We want to increase the number of saleable businesses.

Only 30% of family businesses successfully transition to the second generation, only 12% transfer to the third, and the success rates diminish from there.  We want to improve those intergenerational transitions.

Of those that succeed in the sale of their business, 75% experience “profound regret” within one year of exiting their business.  We want to understand why and create strategies that achieve profound success, wealth, and satisfaction.

EPI is an education company, powered by an elite community of top advisors and owners, all focused toward creating a valuable, transferable future for the business marketplace.
