Putting Your Certified Exit Planning Advisor Credential to Work at the 2027 Exit Planning Summit

For exit planning professionals, staying current on trending topics is only part of the job. The greater challenge is knowing how to apply what you learn in conversations with business owners and collaboration with other advisors as you grow your practice.

At the 2027 Exit Planning Summit, exit planning professionals can enhance their skills by combining education with peer learning to build a more complete exit planning practice. Over three days in San Diego, attendees can connect with professionals across the exit planning community, hear from thought leaders, and explore ideas to bring back to their firms.

Read on below to learn more about the themes and speakers you will hear about at the 2027 Exit Planning Summit.

All About Activation

The 2027 Exit Planning Summit will focus on helping Certified Exit Planning Advisors (CEPA®) move beyond theory and into practice. A major theme across several sessions at the Exit Planning Summit is activating your credential to assist more business owners.

For some advisors, that may mean introducing exit-planning conversations earlier in a client relationship. For others, it may mean building stronger relationships with attorneys, wealth advisors, CPAs, valuation professionals, and other specialists who support business owners.

In either case, activation means turning education into a practical part of your work. It means being ready to identify planning opportunities, ask better questions, explain the value of preparation, and help owners address the personal, financial, and business legs of the stool that can affect a future transition.

A new session for the 2027 Exit Planning Summit is the CEPA Immersion Event, hosted by Cultivate Advisors. This in-person immersion event is built for advisors looking to expand their knowledge and ability to work with business owners, similar to the online CEPA Immersion Events led by Cultivate CEO and Co-Founder Casey Clarke.

Advisor attendees will leave this session with actionable insights, tools, and playbooks designed to help them differentiate themselves in the marketplace as business-owner experts.

Other opportunities to learn more about activation include breakout sessions with Wally Waldron, founder of Exitology and 2026 EPI Member of the Year; Mike Garrison, an Exit Planning Institute® (EPI) faculty member and founder of Values Based Mindset; and others.

Their sessions, along with others throughout the event, will give attendees a chance to hear how experienced professionals approach practice growth, advisor relationships, and business owner engagement.

Meet Some of the Speakers

The 2027 Exit Planning Summit will kick off with opening remarks from EPI President Scott Snider and 2026 Peter Christman Exit Planner of the Year Renee Russo.

Attendees can also hear from other exit-planning experts, including EPI faculty and Thought Leadership Council members, at the 2027 Exit Planning Summit. This includes 2025 Peter Christman Exit Planner of the Year Joe Seetoo and 2024 winner Amy Wirtz, alongside other Excellence in Exit Planning Award winners.

The event also offers opportunities to learn from peers beyond formal sessions. Exit planning is rarely a one-advisor process, and the relationships built at the Exit Planning Summit can be as valuable as the ideas shared on stage.

Conversations with other CEPAs can lead to new perspectives, referral relationships, and resources that support advisors' work with business owners.
