Attend the Certified Exit Planning Advisor Credentialing Program in Chicago

The Exit Planning Institute is excited to host the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) Credentialing program in Chicago, Illinois this May! This program provides professional advisors with the tools, resources, and knowledge to effectively work with business owners during one of their biggest financial decisions: exiting their business. We will be returning to the Gleacher Center at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business for this four-day CEPA In-Person Program.

Through the process of Exit Planning (the Value Acceleration Methodology), owners can build more valuable companies, have stronger personal financial plans, and align their personal goals. Earning CEPA doesn’t change your expertise, it enhances your ability to engage business owners and have value-added conversations around growth and exit.

Erin Niehaus, Vice President, Private Banking with J.P. Morgan shares, “As a former institutional investor and equity research analyst, I found the value acceleration methodology intuitive, concise, and helpful. It is a great distillation of value enhancers for almost any business. What I took the most out of though, was the team nature of providing services and how to best help on the personal side.”

Four Days of Exit Planning Education

The CEPA In-Person credentialing program gives professional advisors the opportunity to learn from experts in the exit planning field with four days of education.

Scott Hiles, Senior Wealth Strategy Associate on the Legacy Group with UBS, shares, “One of the biggest takeaways from the CEPA program was the idea that you have to look at Exit Planning for business owners through a totally different lens than your traditional advisory practice. It forced me to take a step away from my existing training as a Financial Advisor/Asset Manager and to approach the conversation as if it were my business, my family, and my legacy. Once I did that, I saw an immediate difference in the level of engagement and excitement in my interactions with our business owner clients. This skill set has already proved invaluable as I am currently serving as the lead advisor on a projected 9 figure sell-side engagement.”

During the May 16-19 Chicago program, CEPA candidates will hear from 11 of our CEPA faculty members on topics ranging from the Value Acceleration Methodology, exit options analysis, and exit planning deliverables.

Collaborate with and Meet Advisors from Across the Country

Each CEPA In-Person program incorporates group work into the daily schedule. During these collaborative sessions, attendees will work closely with advisors from across the country on an in-depth case study. Research shows that case study learning fosters more collaboration, knowledge retention, and professional growth. Through this case study work, CEPA candidates will score an owner’s personal readiness, determine their Wealth Gap, assess the business value, develop goals and objectives for the owner, and create a detailed action plan for the business. Collaborating with others on the case study provides advisors with real-life experience collaborating on an owner’s team as well as the opportunity to meet with people who could be their next referral source.

The CEPA In-Person program also features daily Faculty Meet-Up sessions at the conclusion of each days’ schedule. During these Meet-Ups, CEPA candidates have the opportunity to ask probing questions to that day’s instructors. In addition to these group work and Faculty Meet-Up sessions, EPI hosts a social event for attendees to network and build relationships with each other and the CEPA Faculty.
