The EPI Miami Chapter Joins Exit Planning Institute’s Chapter Network
by Colleen Kowalski on September 30, 2022
The Exit Planning Institute and a team of top advisors and leaders from the Florida marketplace are joining forces to launch the Exit Planning Institute Miami Chapter on October 14, 2022. This event will be hosted at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, The Watson Island Ballroom (Floor 2), 1633 N Bayshore Dr, Miami, FL 33132.
Build Your Network in Miami
This local chapter is different than many other networking professional organizations in the market. The EPI Chapter is cross-functional, meaning that it attracts and engages advisors, experts, thought leaders, media, and business owners from diverse backgrounds. These leaders engage in exit planning and value acceleration education that ensures the continuity of the local marketplace and improves the success rates for transitioning businesses as owners look towards their future.
As evident in the vast amount of recent research studies, including the State of Owner Readiness™ Survey, the U.S. landscape is set to transition six million businesses over the next 5-10 years. Baby boomer business owners are reaching retirement at a rapid rate, and these same owners own 66% of all companies in the United States of America. According to recent research conducted by EPI, most baby boomer owners have not accounted for their ultimate exit transition. Statistics show that only two out of ten businesses on the market sell. Without proper planning, owners run the risk of getting a lower price for their business than they need or even worse, they fail to sell at all.
Diego Obando, CEPA, AWMA, AAMS, and President of the EPI Miami Chapter shares, “Selling your business is arguably the most culmination of your career. Planning and preparing for this process is crucial to reaching an advantageous conclusion for the business owner. There is a clear need for improved exit preparation, which is why I am delighted to start the Miami Chapter of the Exit Planning Institute alongside my esteemed partners. We will come together to cooperate with, support, and educate business owners and their trusted advisors on how to optimize outcomes for all stakeholders during the exit process.”
Exit Planning: It’s Not What You Think
Attend the EPI Miami Chapter Launch event on October 14 to hear from EPI President, Scott Snider. Scott is a nationally recognized industry leader, growth specialist, and lifetime entrepreneur.
Scott will lead the session in a discussion about the various roles an advisor plays in the exit planning ecosystem. He will also introduce the Miami Chapter to the Value Acceleration Methodology.
Exit planning is the fastest-growing marketplace within the financial and professional services industry. The exit of millions of baby boomer business owners is over $10 trillion dollars in transferable wealth. This is your “$10 Trillion Dollar Opportunity!”
That said, the business community is changing, and like it or not, the need for a new kind of advisor has become undeniable. You can no longer view your relationships with your clients and prospects as transactional. You must become more than your deliverable.
In 2022 and beyond, you must do more than assess value. You must provide value. In this session, you will learn how to help change the outcome for business owners. You will identify, protect, build, harvest, and manage business wealth.

The EPI Chapter Network creates a forum where the local community of professional advisors can collaborate and address the unique needs of their community. Chapters develop educational programs for business owners and professional advisors that build awareness and better prepare an owner for the successful exit of their business. The purpose of the EPI Chapter Network is to create, encourage, and foster the adoption of best practices in the exit planning profession. Chapters promote the common interests of business advisors engaged in exit planning.
